Orem Citizens Need to Beware

Stand for Orem Denounces 'Dark Money' in Orem Elections

Stand For Orem wants Orem citizens to be made aware of some troubling things happening in our elections.

The organization known as Stronger Together has formed into a 501(c)(4). These are nonprofits that are formed so they do not have to disclose their donors, even if they spend to influence elections. The candidates they donate to have to disclose the donation, but the 501(c)(4) does not have to disclose who they receive donations from. And that is where the problem lies. Because there's so much dark money, these 'nonprofit'  organizations are popping up for the sole purpose of collecting dark money and anonymously boosting certain campaigns. Orem citizens must ask themselves, why would Stronger Together become one of these 'dark money nonprofits'? The only answer is to funnel outside money to influence elections in Orem. Two main motives for out of town donors that should be of concern to Orem citizens would be to influence developer projects and to influence political affiliation. This article shows how it is the goal of the Democratic National Committee to turn Utah blue. https://www.axios.com/local/salt-lake-city/2025/05/28/dnc-launches-longshot-strategy-to-flip-deep-red-utah

Stand for Orem denounces 'dark money nonprofits' and calls for open and transparent financial disclosures. Orem citizens deserve to know who is funneling money into Orem through our local 'dark money' 501(c)(4).

Pleas of Residents to Preserve Orem's Open Space Ignored

Stand for Orem Disappointed with Results of May 13th Vote

Stand For Orem is disappointed with the results of the vote to rezone the Wilkerson Farm property. It was a packed City Council meeting on May 13th and many

people shared their input.

When it came down to the vote, the four who favored the change, Tom Macdonald, Jeff Lambson, Jenn Gale, and Chris Killpack, ignored the pleas of thousands of emails, scores of speeches in city council meetings, and dozens of "No Rezone" yard signs to side with developers and the real estate company.

The silver lining is that the original plan for multiple townhouses was altered to only include single family homes. We appreciate the Planning Commission and their efforts on this matter.

About Us

Our history

When the Orem State Street master plan, which called for 10,000 new apartments in Orem as well as BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) going down state, was first presented to the community, many citizens expressed their concerns but did not feel heard. From these citizens, a group came together and formed Stand For Orem to maintain Family City USA.

Our mission

The Stand For Orem Political Action Committee is comprised of politically active citizens whose goal is to preserve “Family City USA” values for residents. We hope to educate voters as we campaign for local leaders who will defend and promote policies that sustain these values.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at standfororem@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

  • We support Orem city (Family City USA), our community, and family values.
  • The City Council exercises the legislative powers of city government. They work with and instruct an Orem City manager’s role. They adopt the annual city budget and make adjustments through the year. They set appropriate tax levies, establish sewer and water rates, and set other general tax and service rates. They also decide on ordinances, make resolutions, set city policy, and give advice and consent on appointments made by the city boards, commissions and departments. They establish land use laws according to the State’s Municipal Land Use Development and Management Act (LUDMA). And they coordinate with Orem Police, Public Works, Water & Sewer, Fire Dept, Library, City Attorney, Finance, and other Orem City departments.
  • We seek Information and transparency to help educate Orem voters on issues facing our community. We support alternatives to high density housing, such as making it easier to have accessory apartments, tiny homes, duplexes and townhomes. We support providing incentives for developers to build alternatives to large rental complexes where neighbors don’t get to know each other and people are constantly moving in and out.
  • We support infrastructure and resolving current traffic issues without sacrificing neighborhoods, making sure we have enough water and resources for those who will live, work and do business in Orem.
  • We support Orem businesses. We recognize the value our Orem businesses bring and how much they contribute to our community. We want to see our businesses succeed, and we would like to provide additional exposure for our local businesses, and encourage residents to purchase locally as much as we can. We want to make Orem a place where business owners want to do business because of all the support they find here.
  • We support our current city administration as they fight to protect Orem neighborhoods and quality of life in Orem. All it would take is one city council seat to go to someone who supports high-density housing and we could go back to the former Master State Street plan (an additional 10,000 more high density housing units and a bus route down State Street, like they put in on University Avenue in Provo).
  • We will support candidates who have values and goals that align with Family City USA. Our goal is to vet each candidate and ask specific questions that our voters care about and then provide voters with details beyond the general marketing claims from candidates in a clear and concise way.
  • We support local neighborhood schools, teachers, and students and the best learning environments. We would love to keep our neighborhood schools and opportunities for students to walk to school where possible.
  • We seek solutions with open discussions, honest debate, brainstorming, and finding alternatives which will work best for our residents.
  • We hope to unite our residents and find common ground by celebrating what is great in Orem.
  • We also seek to unite with all who support Family City USA values: Family, freedom, courage, connection, community, and country
